Well another IHSTO snow run is in the books. This one was quite an adventure. We had 5 scouts and 2 jeeps on this run.
There was a ton of snow today and the weather was pretty nice. Our adventures started before we were even into the parking lot. As we turned off hwy 6 and started to climb the hill into the parking lot. A truck was stopped in the road. This caused terry to have to stop. As soon as he stopped he started to slide backwards down the hill. Truck trailer and girl Scout all slid backward and gained speed. The trailer and Scout then slipped over the embankment and pulled the dodge over with it. Fortunately the Scout and trailer hit a tree and stopped the truck from going clear over the edge. We spent the next several hours winching the truck, trailer and Scout back onto the road.

I wouldn't have missed this day for anything. Great adventures make great stories. :d

I'm glad we went. It was an adventure, we got to practice our winching skills and got some wheeling in as well. I would do a few things differently next time, but I'd go again in the same conditions.:out:

The winching skills were impressive. Especially after the one odot employee told the other "they will never get that out without a wrecker". May have been the best conditions for a "snow run" ever.

I'm glad we went. Could have skipped the first part of the day but we got to practice our winching skills and test the tie down straps. Next time it's that bad we just know to park in that turnout! And it also gave me a good excuse to seriously think about flat-bedding girl Scout.
After that fiasco, we didn't have much time to go very far but it was still good times with a good group. Thanks for all your help!
