I tore some stuff down. Went riding. Watched some movies. Welded some stuff. Typed on the internets.

I took more pictures than all of you - I worked in my garage all 3 days of the weekend - it was glorious!!!

Did some fine tuning on the new engine., bbq'd, went car shopping with the wife, bbq'd some more, hung out with some friends from the offroad club, and I made some scotch eggs.

Our weekend started last Tuesday nite with ken and lewis enrolled for the last summer session at binder u. I put ken's azz on scholastic probation about 7:30pm Sunday nite and threw him out. Lewis got an "a" for his first course, boy follows directions real guud, mowed abouta acre with the jd ride-on weedeater, and lernt how ta eat cold pizza and chikin from ike's for breakfast just like tha big boys do.

Ken's babyshit yeller sii has lived here for a year now while he disappeared agin...this time the modded 30+ gallon tank finally got hung, the liftgate latch system was rebuilt, air cleaner for the 2300 carb conversion finalized, and a whole set of rpt poly engine mounts installed. The three mounts took ken about a day and half to do...he can scruu away more hours than tha clock has on it just polishin' tha threads inside tha nuts.

Lewis got a major tour of "murphy's" custom chopper shop who has a building next door to dave's place. Murphy is the ultimate craftsman and does unbelievable work, much nicer than that Jesse james/American chopper shit! Lewis had no idea this kinda stuff existed except on teevee.

Spent several hours while ken obsessed over the ambulance gearmandave has got in pieces at his shop. He's building the badly-broke pto drive and winch, the np201 tc, two new driveshafts, and re-working the parking brake system that exploded in front of me in the prelude to obdr 2005. Gotta complete rebuild kit to replace the trashed guts in that 65 year old ramsey pto winch comin' from ramsey in oklihominee. Dave will prolly have to file a lien on the s-120 after ken pulls his yearly disappearing act, but it's gonna git stored here.

Tha dam tank ken had built/rebuilt leaked likea bitch (11 porous welds), so I brazed over all the punkee crap and got it leak free. Then ken and me hadda knockdown fight over how to mount. Ken wanted to jbweld it to the frame and body. I reminded ken that I was the teacher, and this was my dam skool. We'd do it my way!

So me and lewis fabbed the first mounting strap, that took about 15 minutes. Then I turned ken loose to fab the second one. Three hours later, we were ready to hang the tank the final time. Gettin' all them dam "evap emissions" hoses up there and stuck in izza bitch, but ken and lewis did that while I hollered instructions at 'em from tha lounge chair.

Ain't herd back from 'em since they disappeared up that driveway, that's a guud sign!

Then I finished off all the ignition upgrades on the beater for the first round, installed new plugs, and cleaned up after them yahoos had trashed tha shop. Gotta buncha carbs to git dun this week and I still gotta go to dave's place and use the portapower to straighten the winch bumper on the ambulance, ken tried to suk tha bumper through tha grille of tha rig at sum point, that's what kinda broke the pto drive and gutted out tha winch gearbox!

Oh yeah, we had about 10lbs. Of baked tuna dave had caught a few weeks back off newport, still got anutha 10lbs. In tha freezer, then grilled up sum burgers when kathy's niece showed up beggin' for grub, we ain't seen her inna 'bout 10 years!

Here's a shot of the tank mounted and sum scabbee paint blowed on it.

I fabbed the 1/2" studs for the straps so that the tank can be lowered onto blocks or a jack real ez if it needs ta come out again. Ken wanted be to cut them studs short since he didn't like the "look". But once he saw tha final deal, and knew next time he would have ta drop it, then he was ok with that! All tha cradle points have 1/2" high-density closed cell neoprene for protection.

The light line 33 gallon fuel sender we got from ihon worked just fine once the arm was bent to allow full travel, this tank has had the bottom removed and diamond plate used to close it up, thus it's missing about 3/4" of it's full height as compared to when originally fabbed.

I gotta check this out! I can see the torkasaurus, running waste oil

I installed the rocker arm in the Travelall that Mike built up for me. I checked the system for proper oil streams and buttoned it back up. Then I did two engine flush treatments with 2 hours of run time a piece. Sucked down 7 gallons of gas total.

I put the dogs and the kids in the Travelall and drove around the neighborhood. Then we went into the field and pulled a few cookies. That always makes the boys happy.

I still have the lifter noise on the drivers side. I am going to have to open that up and take a closer look to see why. At that time I will create a technical video documenting what to look for and how to assess the condition of the rocker, valve and rod setup.

Our weekend is continuing.

Dave has completed the np201 with pto for ken's s120 ambulance. This is the rig that shit the parking brake drum at the start of obdr 2005 and red hot chunks of it bounced off my windshield.

The cases and guts all went through a powerwashing machine as used for cleaning blocks/heads/tranny cases/etc. Interior surfaces have been glyptol'd to seal any porosity and make 'em slick.

All the bearings inside are new, dave had to fab a few parts also that are simply nla. Two of the yokes were trashed...and all of the seal interface surfaces have been speedisleeved so it ain't gonna make oildirt no more!

Most all hardware is new since reusing that stuff is not the best thing to do, bolts and nuts are cheep still. Every fastener is threadloked.

The boneyard brake drum was turned on murphy's lathe and is now in perfect condition, friction materials in eugene fabbed a new brake band, ott's could do that also but it would have to be transfered to the main shop in portland, friction materials turned this band around in under 2 hours.

The pto has it's own internal oil pump ("ejector-type") driven from a cam on the shaft, the dimensions of the parts was perfect so after cleanup, it was simply re-assembled.

I was not able to straighten the winch bumper due to the kinda homebrew roller fairlead that has been added. The bumper will have to come off and then disassembled. It could be pressed straight, but would be easier to have a body shop tie the rig to the floor anchors, and pull the bumper back straight, a very simple process that is beyond our capabilities.

Her's a shot of the other side of the np201, this sumbitch izza monster, about one fourth larger overall than a 205.

You can see the "flange" of the speedisleeves behind each of the yokes, that yoke on the pto izza really oldskool setup, parts for that are real rare and so is the yoke! But this one was repairable through the use of the speedi!
