dt444e is a v-8......7.3 powerstroke. The dt444e is a detuned powerstroke engine. It uses the International ECM, while the powerstroke uses the Ford ECM. If you looking to put in a diesel in your truck, meaning stay IH in your truck, why not a 6.9 or 7.3 idi??
but if you could care less of it being a IH engine, put in a cummins.

has anyone considered a duramax? Sure, its from japan, and has no ihc heritage, but I think the Nissan motor was from the land of the rising sun also...
I see them routinely as dropouts from wrecked p/us at places like lkq for $4000. This is a complete motor with 40-60kmiles. Just a trend I've been mentally tracking. No real plans in my future, but having driven these motors, they are really nice. Lotsa diesel torque, and also revs (well, for an oil burner).
As for the dt466, that's just nutty. And don't for get to post the pics!

IH used GM engines (I.e. Detroits) in their trucks.
I've seen a 6.6 clean house at the truck pulls 2 years in a row, after the second year it warped the heads soo bad they were trashed. Yet I see powerstrokes pull through the gates numerous times with no failures.
just what I've observed. I don't preach IH for the good of my health, or because they're cheap, I'd be a Rich man if they were cheap to build!
