swapping engines this weekend

My green Scout "leonidas" has had a tired engine for awhile now. So I am taking a few days off and I plan on changing out the tired 345 and replacing it with a newer 345.

So if anyone would like to come by and talk about IH's, drink a few beers, or just watch me turn wrenches :dita: let me know. I took Thursday and Friday off so I can make it a long weekend. I won't be doing much on Sunday though, it is my anniversery and the wife and I are getting out.:winky:

From a phone call yesterday, it seems that monte and momma done "got out". And that call didn't come from momma neither!

Post up the dimensions of them secret "o" rings. Not the ones shaped lika fishnet witha open end, obviously they musta been recycled and not quality tested before resale. I mean the open-ended ones for them water tubes! I gotta bunch of 'em but don't know tha size for posterity!

Bawlbearing dudes know "o" rings so give us the numbers!

I guess monte's onena them typical titeazz IH bubbas afterall, always lookin' for free junk ta recycle inta sumthin' else. There is at least one item I don't think I'd ever recycle, but obviously he didn't git that memo.

Ss2 now has a case of new rubbergoods he don't need anymore. He'll swap for abuncha them "blue ice" paks from the horspital though! Tha kind with them velcro attachin' harnesses.

Actually, my limited brain capacity is all used up trying to keep track of 20,000+ ball bearings. I won't even consider trying to figger out another 50,000 seals and orings.

I just have extra orings left over from the 12 times we had the heads off the girl Scout, and bought gasket sets.

We'll measure one and get ya the numbers.

Well if I had that same surgery you did I guess I wouldn't be lookin for a t-all to pack my whole clan around in.:icon_neutral:

in all seriousness I hope you get to feelin better.

Rubber update!

Ok, I got the orings for ya monte.

Mike, I got the measurements. These appear to be a standard size.
The oring stock is .1250 diameter (1/8) and the inside diameter (where it fits on the tube) of the oring is 1.125 (1 1/8).
We have a "napa 72500 oil seal service kit" here at the bearing factory. It's just an assortment of different orings in a fancy box, not much different than you'd find at hft.
The napa number for the correct oring is: (drum roll please)

72216

Update: the motor is in and it just needs some fine tuning. By next weekend it should be out of the garage and ready for the road.

When ya sed "waitin' for paint to dry", I didn't know ya meant serious paint!!!

Man that looks nice! Too bad about the pump leak, hope it didn't trash the brightwork!

Thanks for confirming the water tube "o" ring dimension bawlman!

That jives exactly with what I had scratched onna package when I tried to cipher this stuff from onena them harbor freight assortments! And that is the same as the "o" ring included in the fel-pro gasket sets.

Then I crossed that into the as568a standard dimension spreadsheet: that "generic" number is 2-216, followed by whatever the "material" code is you want, nitrile, fluorocarbon, silicone, etc.

I feel real smart this mornin'...now I know how to use the master catalog from aop seal group, and they have a warehouse in eugene...minimum order is $5 and they sell to old geezers like me who want only a few items!

Mike, I thought you would have blown a gasket over the use of the finger chopper here??? What gives you getting soft in your old age?

Monte, looks real good man!!

Thanks Chad. Mike knows the finger chopper is only temporary, when I locate a shroud I won't have to worry about my digits anymore.:dita:
