Metal in oil pan

I moved your thread to an appropriate sub-forum.

You are not seeing aluminum in the pan...you are seeing babbitt bearing material from failed cam bearings.

There are many threads regarding this same issue right here in the engine tech sub-forum. Search using key word "cam bearing".

tyou micheal question are all the cam bearings in internationals scouts alumaninm?

The bearings are not aluminum, they are hard metal with a soft "babbit" coating. It's always some type of alloy, and can be either tin, lead, or copper for the most part. Regardless of what it's made of, it is a soft metal that is prone to sacrifice itself to harder surfaces, if allowed to sit and stick to them due to inoperation. I have no idea what type of babbit IH was putting in these motors.
