T19/Diesel vs. T19/Gas

Can anyone tell me if there was a difference between the t19's used behind diesels, and the ones behind gas engines? Different ratios, ?...

Thanks in advance.

No difference in the t-19 gas or diesel gear ratios.

But...there is a IH code 13427 which is a t-19 "wide ratio", and a IH code 13428 which is a t-19a close ratio.

The wide ratio version is the "granny" low gear ratio of 6.32 and the t-19a low gear is 4.02.

very interesting. Do those codes correspond to anything on the gear box? Both had a final ratio of 1:1?

If the oem I.d. Tag is still present under one of the hold-down bolt heads for the shift tower, you will see the warner id number, the IH part number, and possibly the ihc code. If the tag is missing, the only way to tell the difference is count the turns of the input-to-output with the trans shifted into 1st gear. 4th gear on both models is 1.0:1. You can also remove the shift tower and count teeth on the first gear set.

The numbers cast into the case or the shift tower mean nothing, those are simply a generic id for the casting from warner. The other set of numbers cast into the case are the actually warner part number for the transmission case only, not the assembly.

Same for the transfer case, originally it had a spicer/Dana tag on it with the spicer p/n and the ihc p/n for the assembly.
