After my last wheeling trip I came in need of a new passenger door. (dang ninja trees) luckily ss2 had a spare one in really awesome shape in his undisclosed IH store-house.:winky: now as everyone knows the 800 door pins and screws can be a huge pain in the a$$. So I devised a way to fix both of those problems. First I went to fastenal and ordered some new hinge screws in the allen key variety along with some tapered star washers just like the originals, only better.

Fastenal part#33773 5/16" ctrsunk ext l/
part#24274 5/16-24x3/4

24 of these with washers was 10bucks
little bit cheaper than here door hinge screw kit - International Scout parts - Scout II parts - your authorized IH lightline dealer

Getting out the old screws can be the biggest problem so do yourself a favor and get one of those hammer impact driver and put the end on an impact gun. Like this.

And if they still wont come out, or if you strip the head try this.

Once you get them out just replace with new.

Now the hinge pins are another pain, I found the best way to get them out was to weld a nut on the top of the pin and twist it until it breaks, then find a punch that fits and beat it out the bottom. The pin is a 7mm pin, which the only thing I could find in a 7mm variety was drill rod. So I got a really good 5/16 drill bit and replaced the pins with 3 1/2" bolts.

Now ive got pins I can pull out and take the door on and off with ease. Which means its time for some tube doors:gringrin:

I made the door side of the hinge with some 3/16 plate and pieces of tube with a 5/16 inside diameter, then it was just pick a design and bend it up. Heres the finished product

Latches to follow:gringrin:

lookin good!:winky: I wonder if you could make something to work on the old latch/catch on your door.....

You could, but the design I went with dosnt have the tube going far enough up on the jam, but you could easilly fix that with a few more bends.

another option would be to make "half doors" like ss2 has, youd just have to source two old doors (ive got abeat up passenger that you can have)

yeah, now ive got a passenger window that will go down, and for the summer the tube doors, so yelling instructions at me should be easier for you.:dita:

All things considered and to your credit, you did a damn good job driving and following my direction even with the window up. Maybe we shouldn't mess with a good thing?:icon_mrgreen:

hey ss2 can ya post some pics of ur half doors im hacking some apart thanks

Here you are. I do have a set of these for sale right now. Just in case yours don't turn out the way you want..:cornut:
