In a bind 67 800

My wife dug this rig up on gl. She had wanted one of these as long as we have been married. So she picked up a 67 800 4cyl tera. I started tearing into the rig and found some problems:icon_rolleyes: asif a 67 would be in perfect working order for under a grand:skep:

this is my first binder, and this has been a fun build:cornut:.....so far.

I scored a pair of scoutii axles on gl. Open knuckle disc brakes were my first choice. Though I expected a more "bolt in" assy:icon_rolleyes:

so up front im running a SUA, I was told by the guy who I picked up the axles and a bunch of leaf springs. The fronts are 4" lift springs. And I did a SOA in the rear. I also decided to do shackle reversal while I was doing the work.

The bed was rotted out, I had an old Jeep pu bed laying around that I used for a new bed.

My wife picked the colors for the rig. I painted the top yesterday (dark ebony teal). It looks black in low light, and a dark green in the light.

Theres a ton of other work I have done latly. But here is some pics:cornut:

this is how I got it...

I would seriously reconsider running a welded together pitman arm. Also is that grade 8 or better hardware? Can't tell from the photo but they look to be grade 5.

Also review your rod ends. Thay are in a binding state and not flexing yet. As the axle drops they will most likely bend and break. Marked up your photo.

The pitman arm was fine till I welded in the splines on the wrong side:icon_rolleyes:so instead of my arm lowering, it raised:incazzato: so I cut it and welded it the other way, I ran 6 passes and later on I threw in some gussets for testing. I havent decided yet to build another or not....had I gotten it right the firs time:icon_rolleyes:.

Yes those are gr5s, im running them to dial the steering in, there also not fine thread, and if you notice on the knuckle side im not into the nylock enough to stop it from backing out. Currently the gr8s are sitting in my dd:cornut:

I could "s" the steering bar a bit, but it really dosent bind. I also used a fender washer to ensure that given failiure it might get sloppy but still have steering.

Thanks for the extra eyes:cornut: sometimes its easy to overlook the details.
