Fordyce In June Anyone

I'm gauging intrest/thinking about trying to get a Scout run together in June.

Plan would be to start Friday morning at eagle lakes trailhead, wheel in and camp somewhere after a few of the winch hills/before committee crossing (by-pass shortcut).

Saturday we would wheel to meadow lake.

Sunday folks can take the road back home via truckee/80, or take the trail back to committee crossing (with me).

If folks can't make Friday, they can meet us at committee crossing Saturday morning.

Date is tbd at this point because I'm ironing out baseball season (I'm coaching) & family trips.

Fordyce is a fairly hard trail.
I'd suggest 33-35s, lockers, and some armor (sliders are a must).
Spares are good also (shafts & joints at a minimum).
If your light on the above, that's ok, I don't mind helping out, but plan on body damage.

This will be a family friendly/beers in camp type of trip. (I'm not sure if my kids are coming.. Ethan is 6 & madi will be 10).

I will post this up later in public.

Thats gonna have to be based on snow pack and water levels, huh? Iirc, that trail hasnt been real accessible for the under 38 crowd in the early months.

So hows that 80 coming along? Is your Ford still up and running? The water crossing can be a bit of a pucker factor. Last year a lot of folks would tie about 3 rigs together so they could back out or go forward. I think they finished the dam work, so this year could be different.

Was this for me?
If so, my cage is all but done (needs to be painted) & the rear will be in over the next few weeks.

I was thinking/hoping the same thing about the dam/drought.

Craig,
Scout process is slooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.
Bronco's motor is getting put back together, hopefully this week, and then its just maintenaince issues, etc. I should be up and running here pretty soon.

Its really hard making time with two boys under 4 years old.

Plug, I know what you mean about finding time. No worries.

As for me, I slashed a tire and want to switch over to bias ply, but that would mean 4 tires as I drive mine to the trail. But I have $0 in the play money account at the moment.
Mike glad your getting it back together.

I ran 42 irok bias on beadlocks with no weights at all for a while. Finally got around to air soft pellets, but I cant say it helped any. If the sizes are right, you can get away with one or two to start, and keep the radial for a spare.

Tough decision to make. Buy one radial tire, as the thread is not bad on the other 3, or buy some tsl sx's or pitbull rocker tires.

I'm running 38" now and the sx's come in 38", the pit bulls come in 37" or 39.5" for my h1 rims. I really like the look of the pit bulls tires but going to 39.5 would mess up my street gearing and require firewall/footwell mods to fit. Decisions decisions. Drop back to a 37"?? I hope to get paid here in about a month for some contract work. Really need to make a decision here soon for the March run at hollister.

Ya totally messing up Mike fordyce thread. But it's all part of getting ready for the summer wheeling season. :icon_rolleyes:
