shackles with lift ?

I have a 78 Scout 2 and I purchased the Skyjacker 4inch su lift and I was wondering if I should upgrade the shackles while I am doing the lift, I cant afford the shckle reverse kit just yet so I was wondering if I should save my money and wait or get the 5inch shackle kit from IHOnly now

Depends on how long it will be before you decide to upgrade to the reverse shackle. If its going to be more than a year than upgrade the shackles to our 5" kit as a longer shackle will help 'free up' the spring some and and make the ride slightly better.

Not only that, but the increased ride height/center-of-gravity really increases the side thrust of the spring(s) against the shackles when the suspension crosses up. The oem shackles are marginal at best anyway, strength-wise. The CPT shackles are massive and the center support adds greatly to their stiffness when the leverage against 'em is increased even with justa spring lift.

Also consider beefing the spring hangers on the frame, they need much help, I rarely see even a stock sii that does not either show evidence of cracking around the weld points, or that have not been bent/distorted from suspension impact in some manner.
