It will make building the 'new' truck much easier....

Thanks!

It was turned up a bit high for .120" material but I was just testing it out.

It is a longevity lp-40d, made in china, 120/240v econo plasma cutter. They sell them over on pirate and on ebay - for a super good deal - but you get what you pay for.

It cut 1/4" steel and aluminum with no problems. It went through the .120" steel as fast as I could move my hand. I tried a 3/4" rusty bolt and made it through, but it struggled. I'd put the limit of usefull all around cutting at 1/2". But I'd wager I can get it setup, cut, edge cleaned up and put away faster than I can get my torch setup... Nice!

Nice! You'll have fun with that!

I've always wondered about using acetelyne or even nitrous instead of compressed air. :out: why don't you try it out and let us know how it works?

pretty intriguing thought , ya gotta admit, cutting 1" plate with your plaz!

At 70 psi - it would get kind of pricey. And mine has a 2.5 or 5 second air override when you release the trigger - I'm guessing you'd still have the blow torch effect even after you released the trigger.

Acetylene becomes very unstable at 15 to 20 psi (as a gas). With the sublimated unsaturated hydrocarbons having the unstable triple pie bond and the sketchy hydrogen atom under 70 psi you won't be cutting with the plasma cutter, you will become the plasma cutter.:yesnod:
