Re: Xtreme 4x4

Oh crap; my dvr took a crap which means I am going to loose all episopes of the extreme 4x4 "Scout" shows. I know I saw it posted where you could buy the dvd's but I can't find anything other than the recent episodes
any help?

Re: Xtreme 4x4

If you have an apple itunes account you can buy individual episodes for $1.99 but then you could only watch them on your computer or a device that can play the drm'd laden files like an iphone, ipod or apple tv device.

You could also send ian a case of beer and your plea and hope for the best.

Hey, that brings up a question I have had about dvrs. I just got my first dvr three days ago, and was curious if there was anyway to "back up" your dvr for cases like this??

Re: Xtreme 4x4

I don't no about yours but mine is from dish network, you can buy a device from them that will work but other than that you can't do it. I have read about pulling the hard drive out and installing it on a linux based computer would work also. But that iis not for the novice, more for the hacker.

Kearney, hey I bought my 74 in grand island!!!

Yea, mine is from dish network too. I was going to ask the installation tech if there was anything like that, but forgot. I might have to look into that devise when I get a load of stuff on there.

Is that the black sii your building the thread on here? I'm actually starting to see more & more scouts springing up in this area. Some to salvage and some builders. I moved here five years ago and my 800 and a orange sii was the only scouts I had seen here.

Re: Xtreme 4x4

Yes it is the black 74, I have a brother and sister in law that live in kearney so I get down there once and a while. Have to look you up.

Re: Xtreme 4x4

Dish uses a linux partition on their hard drives. I have taken my hd out of my dish network pvr/dvr and mounted it to a linux box. The video files themselves were not drm'd (at the time I did this) and with some work I could get the video files (mpg I think) onto my laptop and play them for the kids on vacations. Lots of backyardagains and alton brown's good eats.

Since then I have upgraded pvr/dvr to the hd versions and considering the work I put in to getting the stuff on the older style I havn't cared much to hack this gear.

There is a yahoo message group devoted to getting stuff off the dish network pvr. It's called pvr explorer. Windows based software. Just hook up your drive to your computer and do whatever... Just so you know that is against the drm copyright stuff for dish network.
