I think this is exactly what I've been looking for, and the right price. Soonest I would be able to look at it would be during the bee, but if someone's closer the odds of me being able to get it go up significantly.


I'm trying to get ahold of the lister now and get more info. If it turns out to be a "buy it now before it goes away" kind of thing I'll gladly reimburse whoever plus a little extra for their effort.

Anyone? (assuming someone like collen or phil hasn't already sniped it :lol: :cryin:

We have plenty folks that can go and look at that rig Mark. But they May not see this post. Contact jim price directly since he lives in salem, we have many other members located nearby also.

Kathy and I will be in salem on July 5, but it will be gone by then!

Nope, he's still around. Just responded to my parallel post on bp as well. Now we're just waiting for the poster to respond. But he leaves for obdr tonight.


Anyone else in salem thats not going on obdr? I think drew merrick is as well, but I can't recall if I've met him in person or not....


Knowing my luck, its long going anyway. I know around here they disappear almost before the post goes up. :mad2:

Ok boyz, I'm expectin' a bee registration form in the mail this week with a big check outta washstate!!!!

Or do I need to add this to jim's registration for his fleet??? Is this a "re-sale" deal??? Don't make a shit to us...just bee there!

If jim don't have it runnin' by the time yawl git down here...prolly all that is needed is to either clean or replace the breaker points, the pushrod for the points allows oil vapor to enter the cover. Then reset the gap of course, all the "k" kohlers use a point gap of 0.020". The ignition system is a battery-powered system just like onna Scout. It's not a magneto on that motor. It must have a hot battery to run. The ignition coil is the same "value" primary resistance as used onna sv motor, 1.8ohm primary resistance...or ya can use a coil for an I-4 with a primary resistance of 3.0 ohms, that motor don't giveashit. Lyle's yellerdawgkadet laid down at the bee a few years back, I installed a fresh 1.8ohm coil outta my truckbox and that did the trick.

No, it will be registered and shown at the bee... If anything I should be paying some registration for jim!! I got to have something this year as its not look'n like I'll have a new tow'n type rig in time (just wait'n for the right one at the right price to show up). I've been "keeping my eye out" of a decent cub for mow'n and general use around the house. I picked up a $100 rider a couple years back and its been gett'n the job done, but every time I work on it or spend any money on it I'm like 'what the heck, if I'm going to dump $50, $75 on a $100 rider mower I might as well make it something fun and worth it. A nice 14 hp hydrostatic cub fits that bill just nice :d

Thats the tech I need. I know just enough about small engine things to typically get something to "run", but not run. I know these things ain't all the tough, but lack of experience and learn'n on them it the problem. Whether jim gets it from steve and does any work on it before I get there is completely up to him. I'm not even going to be presumptuous to ask or expect anything like that. I figure we'd just all be having a little tech session right there on the grounds.

I'm bring'n a new battery with me. Anything else I should pack? Or we'll just get what we need at the local parts house. :thumbsup:
 
Nice little primer regarding "k" kohlermotors!:

kohler k-series & magnum - single cylinder engine specifications, tolerances | torque values and sequences for fasteners

Any "k" part is available through a kohler service dealer or distributor. Nuthin' special about the kadet version of that motor at all except it's yeller!

I gotta bulletproof vertical crank vee-twin watercooled ohv kohler in my sears garden tractor now, 23 horse version. Sumbitch has been abused hard for the last eight years, it cleared this property! If anything, the old k-motors are stronger!

All ya need to keep 'em runnin' is some bobwire, pliers, and a claw hammer.
