AFI idle hunt

Has anyone had an issue with their afi TBI system not idling smoothly? Mine will cycle up and down drastically to the point of almost dying. Once I tap the throttle it smooths out. There is no pattern to when it happens ie: hot, cold, altitude, incline etc.
Thanks

Have you logged any data yet? Depending on when you purchased your system you should have received an aldl cable with your kit. When need to see data to see what the parameters are.

I got it several years ago, before the aldl cable was supplied, but bought one since. I did some data logging quite a while ago but it was all way over my simple brain. What program do you recommend I use to log?

If your idle is hunting it is usually one of two reasons. The most common is that you do not have the base idle set correctly and too much air is going through the iac and not the throttle plates. You can go to your installation instructions and follow item #10 under troubleshooting and it will go over how to set the throttle plates properly.

The reason for this is that the iac is a slow moving device and by the time it corrects it already over corrects and as such will hunt looking for a good speed.

The other common issue is a tps that is worn in the idle area where it comes down. Usually what you see is the tps bouncing when there is no movement of the throttle lever. It does not have to be much to cause the issue.
