Front shackle sway bar

I bought IHOnly's shackle set with the factory sway bar attachment. Mine is long gone. There is a local spring shop that specializes in leaf springs. So my question, if I want to get a another sway bar what do I ask for? I know it is suppose to be spring steel anything else? Do you all think that they will even be able to help?

77 Scout with 4inch Skyjacker springs, 5" shackles.

Thanks in advance

Best bet is to find a good used one. You will save money and get the right part. Make sure to ask for the hardened bolts that go with it.

We have good used ones in stock. Please call if you would like to order as they are not listed online.

Dos centavos here minnow, when I installed jeffs shackles I had the four nuts welded to the backside of the shackle. Now when I want to remove the sway bar it's just four bolts from the front and good to go.

I dont do rock climbing as there is no where to do that around here but you recomended taking it off when off road? So bolt on is better then welding it on I take it.:icon_eek:

Seeing that the bar is made of spring steel it really isn't a good idea to weld it on.

certainly helps when cornering.
I'll second that. You'll feeling it going around corners and on freeway cloverleafs. It'll definitely make your Scout safer on the pavement, since front sway bars induce a little understeer, which is another way of saying they reduce oversteer... Which nobody wants to deal with when driving a Scout.

Of course the Scout will work much better off-road with no sway bar, so you'll want it to be easily removable. I've found that the low positioning of the sb on Jeff's shackles (if you'll forgive me) seem to make the sway bar work a little too well at 'binding' the r and l shackles together. The result is not enough sway in the front end to deal with transitional situations. The entire truck wants to rock back and forth, rather than just the axles moving independently of one another and the truck chassis. (the rear axle is forced to do a little extra articulating to compensate.) in fact it can be downright brutal sometimes.

So yeah, get a factory sway bar and keep it removable. Four nuts and bolts... Easy to reach and not a big deal.
