some of you May remember the 1965 Chevy pu I had in the shop awhile back. This one..:gringrin:

well the owner of said truck(Craig) decided that he wanted to roll in even more style. As luck would have it the “senior” member of “team ihcs”:devil: Was trying real hard to come up with a reason not to buy this sr2 that he had located. So up steps Craig and after a road trip to cottage grove we now have a proud new Scout owner. The specs on this truck are outstanding. 1970 Scout sr2 304 4spd 162000 original miles. One owner since 1972. Plus it came with a bed full of parts. After unloading it at ihcs I snapped these pictures before he drove it home.

I hope to get him to bring it to the March meeting...:winky:
 
Great find. Are you sure that rig was in oregon? I'm not seeing nearly enough rust for that. Mike, is ken ok? I didn't thing he could pass up a 800:gringrin: .

He was about 2 seconds from pulling the trigger on this one. But we both decided it would be more fun to infect another person...:winky: the thing we should have done is cleaned out all the extra parts and then sold it to Craig.:devil: this thing had nos taillight lenses still in the boxes in the back....:icon_mrgreen:

Ken is recovering nicely. It was a little rough at first but its all perspective. I had the fun of finding and recovering it, finding it a good home where I can look at it any time I want, the new owner will drive it to haul his kids around and it didn't cost me a dime. :winky: thats what they call a win_win.
 
That is a thing of beauty!!! I keep seeing these sr2's pop up around you guys. Until we got to know you oregon folks I had only seen one other sr2. Like Jeff says, orgeon must be where all the cool IH's went to live.


Edit: after looking at it again, and I hate to admit this but I think that one is even straighter than mine. Damn it!!!!

Man don't tempt me ........ Yet! I need to get a shop built first before I start adding any new members to my IH orphanage.

We have seen a bunch recently too. It's not always like this. But I like it....:winky:
this Scout is super straight and a runner/driver just needed a battery. All the lights worked and the turn signals. Even the back-up lights.....:icon_mrgreen:
 
Yawl southern boyz gotta realize...that back in the day...the northwest was one of the largest markets for ihc in light duty sales volume, they ran right in the mainstream of sales/registrations with Ford and chev in this market as far as light duty "trucks" were concerned. Portland alone had a "factory branch" along with iirc five dealers in the portland metro area...and ernie biso was one of the highest "sales volume" dealers for light duty in the kuntry out of a very small point...and really supplied mucho product for state/county "fleet" buys.

Same for the ag-related stuff.

And a very strong dealer-base supported that market, with several dealers in the market, unlike what was found in other regions where ihc was virtually non-existent.

And ihc dominated medium duty sales due to fleet activity particularly in the log harvesting and milling industries.
 
Do you remember back to your first Scout? What's the first thing you do after washing waxing and cleaning out all the gum wrappers???.

Craig stopped by the house today . he had his kids in the back and was tooling arround town . Scout looks great!....:gringrin:
 
Wow! That is the understatment of the century.!!!

Roy I. Would give his l@$t n%t for a sr2 that clean. I got me the mind to drag my trailer to mm's place and scoure the orygon country side for a like new aristocrat. Shoot I'll bet 2k I could find me a 33-34 3 window Ford coup like that orange sr2.

Anybody seen one ???????????

A little steep on the price but I saw one in somebody's yard over in eastern oregon during playoffs that was a very nice original aristocrat.

it isn't near md unfortunatly and off the top of my head I can't think of anyone I know who is. You May want to get on the just IH board and see if you can get someone from there to take a look. Nampa is in the dry part of the state, so the truck has the potential to be a really good place to start.
