Won't start - I'm perplexed

This is a weird one for me. The Scout just decided not to start all of the sudden. I've been driving my swap daily for the last month straight with no issue, then yesterday I get nothing when I turn the ignition switch to the start position. I had to get to work, so I jumped the solenoid and got on my way. This morning I went to diagnose it and here is what I found:

1. Battery voltage 12.8v from both optimas
2. Same voltage to hot side of solenoid
3. Energized the small post of solenoid and it started (solenoid good)
4. Checked the crimp on my neutral safety switch and it was good + reverse lights work(my Scout was originally an automatic)
5. Checked all positions of the switch and found them to be functional (run position energizes gauges and start position springs back as it should and brake light illuminates temporarily)

my theory is that the only thing it can be is the actual wire from the ignition switch to the small post of the solenoid. Before I tear into my loom, is there anything I'm missing? Btw, I am not getting anything audible from my switch at all in terms of starter noise, clicking etc.

Thanks for any ideas.

Isolated the problem

So I got out my old shop manuals and traced the problem to the automatic transmission relay. I jumped the terminals and it key-started fine. Can I just eliminate that relay altogether? Seems like I don't need it with a manual transmission.

Re: Isolated the problem

Yes you can ditch it. Once removed a simple jumper wire in place of the relay will allow you to start your engine.
