Last year I purchased a new windshield seal for my 800. It's excellent quality! My question is: does there need to be any kind of sealant or bedding goop between the rubber and the windshield frame? I do not remember the original seal having any sealant at all.
The 1st replacement, 12 years ago, the installer used some kind of goop. The seal did not seem to seat well, the corners always stood proud no matter how much I pushed them in. When I removed it last summer, the bottom channel of the windshield frame was severely rusted. There was no leakage into the cab until last year.
This 2nd replacement last summer, I also replaced the glass. Glass is now 1/4" thickness instead of the 9/32" it used to be. It would leak around the glass, but not between the rubber and the frame. I just got the glass sealed, but do I need to go farther and goop the frame channel too?
Thanks, greg
