Where should this wire go?

I crawled under my (new to me) 1980 turbo diesel Scout traveler today and noticed this connector hanging down next to the transfer case. It's obviously been disconnected for quite a while. It is not clear to me what it's for, where it goes, or what's not working because it's just hanging out in space like that.

Is there an "indicator light" for "4wd engaged" in your dash?

Is there a sender on the transfer case that the '4wd engaged' hooks to. My tc (76 scoutii, 727, d20) is covered in so much crap I can't find it (if its there). Where would I start scraping?

No idea

thoroughly cleaning the t/c and cheching/changing fluids is on my list, but bot at the top. If I find a place for that connector I'll let you know...

I don't seem to have a corresponding "4wd engaged" light on my dashboard.
