What's a good exhaust setup for an S2

Hi guys,

my motor, tranny and transfer case are all in and I'm looking for some guidance as to what exhaust to run. The po's exhaust still has good mufflers, but I'll need to rerun the pipes starting with the collector reducers all the way back.

I have a 74 s2 with a 345 and stock manifolds. I'm looking for something that sounds good, works better, and allows for those inside to have a conversation if necessary.

If you guys have any pictures I'd love to see what you're running. Tips on routing of the pipes would be really handy too.

Thanks!!!
Drew

My local shop put on imco 'turbo' mufflers on mine with 2 1/4 all the way back and following the stock dual routing. They are quiet at idle and growl when you get on it. Going downhill when you let off the gas it has a nice burble burble burble.

Thanks aubrey.

Any way you could snap a pic of stock pipe routing?

When I bought my s2 it didn't have any exhaust.

Cheers...

See if these will help.

Here's some shots of a smog legal, catalytic equipped sii. Single exhaust out the back on the driver's side.

Thanks so much guys. Those pics are great.

I hate to ask for more, but can I see the routing from the collector reducer on the passenger side. I want to make sure I'm routing around the starter properly.

Thanks again!!

Thanks dealbreaker.

That's exactly what I neened to see.

I like your fuel line setup by the way. Very clean.

Cheers,

Those are the trans cooling lines, actually. But thanks, and I hope you get your rig rolling too! Post up some pics as you go.

Be careful of those Scout imposter pics. There is no way that is a Scout. Proof? Look at how shiny clean that thing is. Or maybe it's a plastic model or something.

It is amazing. The first motor/trans I've built that doesn't drip anything. Only about 5k miles on it, but proof that it can be done!
