What the @#% did I do?

Well first off, over the winter I changed to hydra boot brakes. And changed to round gages. All working great, only I had too tight of bend in my new speed-o cable and broke it in about 60 miles.

So I replaced it. And my po just had a regular 1/2" nut on my brake lamp switch. So I got a couple of jam nuts and put it back in and adjusted.

I said that to say what my problem is now. I noticed my interior lamp was out and found a blown fuse to the dash and flasher. So I replaced and it blew again, now when I turn the ignition switch on the headlights come on. No markers just head lamps. And I removed both flashers to check them. They are ok only when I tried to put my turn signal flasher back in. I guess it pushed the retainer back behind the fuse box. So I need to take it apart and put back in.

Other than a grounded hot wire what do I need to be looking for?

Hard to say -- since you do not state "what you have" / really what you have done...

Is it the first time you have tried to start the vehicle since putting in the new gauges?

Did you rewire the dash? Are you using the stock fuse block? Or, an aftermarket fuse block?

You could start by checking all "systems" wired to the fuse that blew twice?

Usually the horn is part of the dome light circuit -- is the switch / contact good inside the steering column?

Any fuse "prongs" contacting other "prongs" -- on stock fuse block?

Remove the fuse block (disconnect battery first) and check the back for any "burnt" wires / area?

If the headlights come on with the ignition switch; then, something is wired wrong -- or "burnt" / "fused" together....

Did the stop light switch work berfore you adjusted it?

Though I do not think that the brake lights are on the same circuit as the horn / dome light (in stock form -- free of po virus...)

Sorry, 78 terra.

I found it last night! When I plugged in my speed-o printed circuit. I did it blind reaching through the din stereo opening. And I guess somehow I had the plug 1 row off where it would still plug in.

Lesson learned (plug the printed curcit it with the head out where you can see it!)
