Weird Right Signal/Taillight issues...

Sooo, I've noticed a few things happening back there....

- the passenger side parking/brake/signal is somewhat less dim then the driver side.

-when the headlights are on, and the passenger signal is on, it blinks irregularly, as does the dash light indicator. Driver side blinks fine(as does the dash indicator). Also, the reverse lights are blinking very faintly(although they're not connected to any switches, since the sbc swap).

My '74 Scout 2, was fully rewired a few years ago, along with a sbc swap, and this issue seems to have developed recently. Furthermore, it seems to be compounded when the headlights are on.

Fuses look fine, and I've gone through and swapped in new bulbs all around.... Any ideas fellas?

I just rebuilt my tail lites and noticed the clip nuts for the tail lite bucket and the buckets themselves were really rusty. I would clean all the rust and corrosion on the body where the tail lite mounts, clean the sockets really well and put a little dielectric grease on the base of the bulbs before you reinstall them. Use new clip / tinnerman nuts on the mounting brackets. Check and see if the tail light dims when the back up lites flicker. Check the wiring harness down by the frame and see if there are any bare spots that could be shorting out the tail / backup lites.

Good news and bad news...

Good news is that a combination of both your comments had me in business within just a few minutes without really having to mess with the wiring...
Bad news is, since it was so simple to,fix, now aim curious about tackling the led craze!

Thanks fellas

My wife and I live in a 30 ft fifth wheel and I want to convert all the interior lights to led. They're spendy but worth it because they last forever. Glad I could help, dan
