Anybody do anything good?
I worked on the Scout for the 1st time in months. Put in a new starter. Wired in a remote starter solenoid. Trimmed the front fenders another inch or so --- this would be the 5 or 6th trimming of the fenders... Doh! Maybe I should have just hacked them off in the beginning.
Serviced the front wheel bearings -- I was looking for a rubbing sound on the drivers front, found nothing there - but did find a very loose passenger side. Ouch!
It was to the point that the outer nut on the spindle was able to come in contact with the back of the locking hub. Good thing the locking hub is aluminum or I would have had a real mess. The wheel hub was also able to 'tip' out of the correct axis enough to shave off some brake pad at the leading and trailing edge of the inner pad.
Made a huge mess - got grease everywhere. But I should be good to go for years again
maintence, shmaintance!
