So yesterday I pulled uber Scout out of the shop for the first time since the "crusher incident"..:nono:

he now rolls on 35x13.50x15 toyo open country mts mounted on steel bead lock wheels. Has hydro assist with a p.s. Cooler. The inside and outside of his frame was plated with 1/4" where the steering box mounts. He also had some sheet metal trimed and some new sliders installed. Plus he now sports a new bumper since the last one was turned into a pretzel.....:dita: I didn't have time to address the other body damage yet..

So tomorrow I head off to CA for the IHSFR. I would have liked to put a short wheeling trip on it before I leave but time didn't allow it. Oh ya since I didn't have time to get the "new Travelall" road ready....I hired an out of work bum to drive me down there.....:dita: it was either that or borrow my kids truck and I couldn't bring myself to drive a dodge....:dita:

Ok bubbas! Nice work in record time!

I feel better knowin' yawl ain't gonna press the issue with the roundbody t'all, too much at risk!

If yawl still wanna caravan, tell us where and what time to hook in bend on 97. We can be there any time, early is just fine. The route in the navsys right now shows 545 miles to lake francis, back roads all the way, no I-state. Tha kuntry between kfalls and dobbins iz real nice especially this time of year. It wuz 35f here last nite!

Well the thing is once I hired the driver aka "dantastic dan" (the prettiest welder in all the land) :dita: he voted that we take the freway cause he likes to drive 80. :icon_eek: since I'm going to be slumped in the passanger seat sleeping the whole way I said fine. so I guess we will just see you down there.

Ok!

I know how kidz are...they jest wanna git there. For old farts, it ain't about gittin' there...it's the adventure in between! Didn't gramps lern ya that?? See ya sumtime Friday...unless you kidz call for a rescue.

I tried my best. Just to drive your route down 97 and cross country in the fall make me envious. If the kidz could see that route once they would understand why it is better to "walk down and have it all than to run down and have one". (if you don't understand that paraphrase ask me to explain it someday)
I will be glad to see the uber Scout head south so I won't look out my window and see it climbing up the rocks onto my patio.
Have fun!

I'm not old but I will have to go with mayben and gramps on this one. Wish I could go but the boss says work and then more work. Have fun

But wes...yore boss also determines yore vacation schedule!!! And yore payday which I'm sure varies on demand!

And me an gramps are on the same page, along with fred and the gwang bubbas!

I can speak disparagingly of you gwangers fred, I sold thousands of 'em back in the day! When yawl gonna make a weekend run up here??? Me an' gramps know back roads as I used ta do that and git paid. Gramps still does...how tha hail ya think he finds all this schnizz??

I'm left rat now!!!

Have fun down there, and take lots of pics! Uber Scout is looking good! Love the improvements, and I gather the front bumper got another set of bolts!:winky: :icon_eh: I wish I could of made it!

Just a quick update. Uber Scout survived the world famous fordyce trail. With the tractractor built ram assist and a properly functioning doubler, the Scout wheels like a dream. When I get back to oregon, I'll post up some sweet pics and video I took today.

Also, next time you see ss2, ask him how much he likes water crossings. He'll have a good story for you.
