I have started the process of swapping the drivetrain out of my 73 1310 4x4, auto, pickup and putting in under a 72 1210 2wd, camper special, 4 (t19)speed pickup. Removed everything from both trucks and started to put the ra-15 rear end and Dana 70 front end under the 2wd frame. Everything looks o.k in the front, need to move the rear leaf spring hanger mount forward and make a new mount for mounting the front leaf up by the bumper, not bad, looks like everything has been drilled in the frame, exactly like the 73. When I slid the rear end and springs under the rear end of the 72, I really only saw 1 out of 8 holes lining up, this is where I started to get confused. I guess I can center the wheels under the wheel well opening and drill new holes, however I am noticing slight diferences the frame height to the rear of the frame. 7" on both frames, however over the rear wheel well and back is slightly different. I can measure from the bottom up and get the front hanger very close, but concerned about where to mount to rear hanger, or is the axle height not a big concern. Lastly while working today, the 2wd frame is drilled exactly same spot as the 73 for the tranfer case mount, however once again, the 73 frame holes are about 1" down from the top of the frame and the 72 is centered, about 3 1/2" down from the top. What should I do? Any ideas would be great.
