I just bought my first Scout. It is a 74 Scout 2 with a three speed manual transmission. I want to swap it out for four speed. Will any 4 speed from a Scout 2 fit or did they change throughout the years? If I can use either which is better the t-19 or the t-18.
 
I did a trans swap from a t18 to a t19 this summer. They are a bit different and the the t19 is much smoother and quieter than the t18 ever was. The t19 also is full syncro. Make sure you get the t-case adapter too as the t18 and t19 are different and your 3 sp adapter probably won't match either.

Good luck with your swap. I've got a well worn but rebuildable t18 if you need one. Also check the transmission length's as they May be longer and require different drive shafts.
 
I actually have I believe the t90 wanting to swap to a t18/19. Sorry if that wasnt clear. Though I till be in the market for a transmission soon.
 
T19 is great. Especially wide ratio if you want to crawl. I will have a close ratio t19 if you needed as well. Just shoot me a pm
