Tranny leak... again

So how do you stop a leaking dipstick tube from the tranny?
I've pretty much resealed the entire tranny and it decides to leak from the dipstick, which has a new o-ring. I'm about to strap some c-4 to this thing and watch it go to IH heaven.

Chances are your oring is torn or your tube is somewhat outta shape or theres a crack you missed. These are the usual causes of tube leaks at the tranny dipstick. Use a suction gun and tube to suck some fluid outta the box and pull the tube and inspect. If you cant find any evidence of the first three. Check the hole for dirt or something thats fouling up your o-ring.
But under no circumstances try to use any kind of sealant on the tube it'll end up in the works for sure.

First off, clean the area around the dipstick tube with carb cleaner of something and verify that the fluid leak is from that point.

Any of these transmissions will leak from all potential points if the vent system for the unit is clogged. The vent system is at the top of the front pump housing and behind the torque converter. To clean those vents the front pump system must be removed. Ihc used 727 transmissions with two slightly different types of vents also.

The vent tube itself must be completely clean and round where the "o" ring seats. And the correct diameter/size "o" ring musty also be used. I place a very small amount of either hylomar or permatex #2 on the "o" ring itself just before installing, then push the tube into position all the way down before installing the retainer bolt back into the bellhousing.

Sweet thanks for the help guys. I got the dipstick tube to stop leaking but there's a small leak I'm still trying to figure out it's a phantom leak, very scary:yikes:
