Trailer springs question

I have purchased a 12,000 car hauler(2-6000# axles)
the springs on it are like any other tandum trailer I had ever noticed.

A friend was telling me that a true 12,000# trailer would have "slipper springs", not the type that have the "triangle" in between the axles that the spring eye attaches to.

I stopped at a local trailer place and looked at all of their trailers that were tandum axle and had axles over 5200# and all of them had slipper springs. I asked the salesman and he told me that the put the heavier springs on all of the hd trailers.

Anyone here with any experience on this?

Fred,
I am sure you've seen the same info but it seems the radiused end slipper springs do have the highest load rating of all trailer springs.

Big tex cutts off the non slipper at 14000. All of there 12000# trailers with tandem wheels have non slipper suspensions 14000 and above have slipper springs and equilizers.

I can only say for sure that my 7000# car hauler has double eyes and the equalizer triangle between the front and rear spring. We usa a 15k# trailer to take our car to the races but it is not here now. When I can I'll have a look.

Hope this helps
