tire question

picked up a surplus 31" tire off of cl to use a spare. noticed that there is a bit of rubber missing bead. the rubber tore away and exposed some of the steel on the bead. see the pic. the bead actually looks good and the steel looks ok. it is really on the flashing of the i.d.

do you think the tire shop will refuse to mount? or more likely, i just can't help worrying about non-sense?

thanks chappie. i'm with you, i'm not worried about using it as a spare. just wondering if the tire shop will refuse to mount because of potential liability?

You won't know till you try. Best bet might be a smaller older shop.

Some tire stores may not mount it for you if the tire is too old date code wise. I know the major chains won't so as Chappie mentioned find a smaller mom and pop type tire shop.

Looks pretty old to me. We usually refer to dates of the tire no matter how good it looks.
