Went to go pick up a winch today that I told ken and Mike about.

When I popped the hood I found this.

Then the guy brought out this

Which held this

I find out that he bought the winch new and it first went on a Scout that he rolled, then on a blazer and then a chev pickup. He said he only used it once.
The cost was a grand total of free.

Nice score. Looks like you have it all and a real piece of history. Those warn boys that were at the Binder Bee would really drool on that one. Are those control cabels brand new?
They May be too nice to use. If that bumper doesn't fit the t'ette I know someone that will give you double what you paid for the whole thing.

The cables were never installed and are new and the controler bracket still has the protective coating on it. I am still in shock.

:winky: that is way cool. I'm only guessing but that control May be 30-35 years old. Does the winch have a brass plate that gives the company name? Considering the controls were never used how do you think they used the winch? How many rigs do you think it was on ? Does the po know what year rig ithe winch starte its life on? I think you have a keeper!

I told wes that I "should" be able to bring home another nice set of control cables for that bellview winch when we return from our trip south.

Here's a link to some decent info regarding that unit:

bellview tech, the 8274's daddy - pirate4x4.com bulletin board

Jeff also has couple of those units, including one mounted on his recovery trailer.

Very nice find! That one will clean up really nice and those are a perfect addition to an oldskool rig!

The two youngsters from warn knew of the bellview legend, but didn't really know much about 'em. But they can put ya in touch with some of the senior warn folks who worked with that stuff back in the day! And they guy who owns archer bros. In eugene is intimate with those also, he was a great help to me in finding the pieces I needed for my '77 model warn 8274 which evolved from that unit.

I picked up that bellview control panel with cables I mentioned wes. It is "experienced" but could be made real nice! As it is now, it matches the "experience" of that winch and bumper perfectly!

Ya can take a look at it when ya come up for the carb swap! It's laying in the azzend of our s80 in case I forgit where I stored it!
