Howdy, I have a 76 Scout II terra with 345 and Holley 4412 with mallory coil and unilight distributor. I just got the motor back in the truck and could not get it to run. I verified tdc on # 8 compression about 4 times, set the rotor pointing to # 8 plug wire on the cap and lightly rotated the dist while grounding the # 8 plug wire until I got spark. Hooked it all up and was met with hard cranking resistance, kill the starter hard, and the occasional pop back through the carb and and even more rare shotgun blast through the carb, oh an a few small fires as well
. After convincing myself that I set the timing gears wrong and bent an input valve, I came on here and read just about every ignition article you have. Came back a couple hours later, set tdc again, and this time unplugged and re-wired the cap twice, just to be sure, and it now runs like a champ!
