T727 Auto Shifter disassembly

Before I damage this thing and spot weld it up ghetto style, how do I get it apart in order to put a new boot over it? I cannot seem to get the lower pin off in order to remove the locking cylinder from the shaft? Does the horizontal pin thread off or is it pressed into the lower part of the shaft?

no need to disassemble anything. Grease up the boot, knob and button with armoral, stretch it over and down. (using a new boot of course)
@Tiny Yokum, are you sure that this works? Have you done it in the past?
I'm in this same situation. I took the shifter knob off by untwisting it but the boot is having a hard time getting past the locking lever which is 2x or 3x the diameter.

If you look carefully there is a roll pin holding the "locking lever" knob in place. Use a small drift punch and some small taps from a hammer to drive it out, the knob will then slide right off. When reassembling, use a pair of pliers to push the roll pin back in.

Thank you, @ihpartsjeff. That was the trick. The pin was tightly in place but it eventually came out and then the knob comes right off. The new rubber boot fits perfectly and stops the draft coming up from the shifter.
