Close or wide? Just wanting to check this with some of you that May know the difference. I have a t-19 tranny out of a s11 & x-case.I did the test, turn the pilot ( input shaft/trans) 4 complete turns, and the output shaft turned 1 time.close t-19?with trans in 1st gear? But,does it matter where the x-case is in? 2wd, 4hi,4lo?thx-Jeff ( excuse the 1st timer ? ) lol:ihih:

Might need to have th t-case in high range for it being 1-1 ratio at the the output. Dana 20 stock low range is 2.15-1 which changes the output rotation.

From your discribtion of trans, it seems to be the wide ratio. But I don't have any manual transmissions handy to confirm it. So I will let the more experienced fellas answer the rest

With the t-case in 2wd, the rear shaft should be 1:1

first gear in a wide is 6.x:1; close is 4.x:1

so, to me, it seems you have a close ratio box - if the trans was in first gear

Thx Robert,it was in 1st gear, but not sure where the xcase was in,can;t read the knob.it's sitting on the floor.now I know 4hi is all the way back.ok,I will test it again in 2wd,thx again.Jeff
