T-18 slips out of 4th gear

I recently had my transmission out for repair of the front bearing retainer. I replaced the clutch as well as the throwout bearing and the pilot. The flywheel was resurfaced.

Now the transmission slips out of 4th gear when coasting. I don't remember it doing this before the job, at least not as consistently.

What could be the cause?

Worn trans output bearing or the synchro engaging teeth on the main gear(no that's not the exact name for it but it is slipping my mind right now) is worn/worn out. Other possibility and easiest to fix is the poppet spring in the cover May have collapsed or broke. Either way that trans will probably need to come out again for a proper repair.

To put this thread to bed upon pulling this transmission I found that the input shaft endplay was .024", twice the recommended maximum.
My theory is that since there were loose/missing bell to engine bolts, missing dowel pins and a broken retainer nose that the transmission input shaft got torqued and damaged over time.
I am replacing the transmission with a donor that has the recommended endplay.
