I beg to differ, they run better at 2,000-2,500 for a sustained period. 3,000 or above, unless you cut the sump out of the pan and turn it into a 8 quart pan, they run out of oil fairly quickly.

Never had an issue with my 345 with 4.88s and 35's even cruising at 75 mph. When I went to the 40s and 5.38s it was not happy 65 was all it wanted to do reliably. PCV could not over come the blow by. But I did do all of bill hamilton's tricks to my heads for faster drain back and ran an extra qrt.
