I know that this information is not a direct reflection on ihonlynorth. This cat is making some statements about your business which don't seem accurate. I tend to spread my support around and only became familiar with IHOnly a few days ago. First listed is my email and then the response from John Glancy. Is this accurate?

s1=I just received my second order today and am happy with the quality of the parts and the part prices. I am not happy with the amount I was charged for shipping. I was charged 12.00 to ship a 1 pound box. I understand that ups has a near monopoly on the shipping market but there are other options. This order shipped via usps would have cost you around 2.00 dollars. I don't expect free shipping but I do expect to pay a reasonable price. I know the box and the handling cost as well, but not that much. I am at the beginning stages of my restoration and have spent about 800 dollars with your company. Well over 100 of that was for shipping. I am intent on switching suppliers at this point because I will save around 10 percent when I calculate the slightly higher prices, on average, and the lower shipping cost.

dear valued customer,
1st, let me thank you for your business, is it appreciated very much. 2nd I am very sorry to hear you are unhappy with the shipping charges, there are factors that you couldn't possibly know regarding the Scout parts business and the use of usps for parts shipping is just one factor , usps has a poor shipping record of damaging packages etc etc. Not to mention no tracking method and insurance costs extra, plus the fact that they do not pickup multi shipments etc at our location, it is simply not an cost effective or efficient means of shipping for us or for any other Scout parts business for that matter, know them all. We have been in business for nearly 20 years and you are the first to complain about this, I know the economy is bad but do you really need to threaten us with switching suppliers because you think your going to save a couple of bucks or "10%" and without really doing the research properly? If our good service and good parts prices is not good enough then by all means go buy it somewhere else, why announce it if this your "intent" or are you having a bad day? if you buy a Scout part somewhere else there is 99% chance it comes from us anyway so we still get the business, no need to answer as I believe you were just venting, good luck and have a great evening.

Sincerely,

John Glancy

This cat ?
How little you know. If you want a better shipping rate, try putting more in the box. :dita:

Yeah I know who he is. That doesn't mean he isn't a jerk. He doesn't get any respact from me. If I put more in the box, the shipping will cost more...stupid!

As a fellow business owner I agree with John Glancy's decision to not use us postal service for the same reasons he stated. Yes it is cheaper than ups but you get what you pay for. As for parts origin it depends on the item purchased as it May have come from sss or Scout light line but it does depend on the part as not all things IH Scout come from either of these two business. I will say that sss is a top notch business and sets the bar for the rest of us IH vendors when it comes to customer service so I'm surprised to hear that you are dissatisfied with their service over something they have no control over which is shipping costs. If you want to try to save on shipping do what tiny says and try to get as much in the box as you can as it will save you on overall shipping costs during your restoration.

I'm going to leave this thread up but it has been locked as this forum is not here for customer complaints from other vendors.
