Suggestions?

I dont want to cut out the whole pillar but how woold you guys fix this? Section the whole pillar or just cut out the bad metal and notch the pillar then repair with good metal?

I've got a couple spots like this on my 78. I'm going to cut out the rust and patch it back. Just going to make sure I get all the bad out.

Thats what I am leaning towards is just cutting the rust out then welding new stuff in

That must have an factory option, because mine has the same problem.
