Steering Joint

Did a search for a u joint part number and came up bubkiss. Trying to r&r the joint that comes off the column to the stub shaft that connects to the rag joint (now borgeson). Its an earlier, rebuildable version that actually has a miniature, greasable u joint. Anyone know where I can fine one? And is it cheaper than a 1"-48 x 3/4"-30 borgeson?
Btw, I have been lurking this site for about a month, and am totally impressed. Glad you found room for me. Thanks!

I have just ordered from one of my suppliers what should be the ujoint that you are after. I'll post back up once I have one here to verify that it is the correct ujoint. If you switch the upper ujoint assy with a borgeson you will either need a different joint that you have already purchased or an additional splined shaft which costs more money than the ujoints that have a dd type shaft.

Thanks Jeff. If I get the column u joint, I will be able to use the remaining shaft which mates up to the borgeson (and then to the box). I'm waiting to hear back from a local drive line shop. He thinks its a spicer part (pto?). Should hear back tomorrow. I'll post a message if he can get it. And a part number if it all works out...
If not, then I'll be looking to source one of your double borgeson/dd shaft kits....

Okay, drive line guy called and said a spicer 5-92x is the one. I'll press that one in and post a pic later today if it all goes right. Is this the same number you have Jeff? The cups measure 1.0625". If this doesn't work, I'll be in touch to see what you can do.
Thanks again for the help.
Craig

This is how it came out. The spicer u joint (#5-92x) went into the stub shaft assembly from my '74 sii. This and the borgeson joint should make for much better handling on the '79 (pictured). The original column joint in the pic is super wobbly and not re-buildable. And even a new rag joint will eventually let you down. I love new parts!
