Steering is all over the place NOW!!

My 73 sii has the Rough Country 2" lift and I just installed 1.5" lift shackles and 6 degree shims in the front. The steering had a little slop in it before but now it has a mind of it's own and is almost uncontrollable. If I hit a bump in the road it will jerk left or right.

Not sure if this is normal after a lift and I just need to have it aligned now or if I installed something wrong?? I put the 6 degree shims in fat part towards the back of the truck as that looked to make the driveline angle less severe. Is that backwards?

Thanks,
g

Yep totally backwards. The shim is not there for driveline angle it is there for caster correction. Basically you just gave yourself -6* caster. You need to spin them around before driving any further.

Had a feeling (just wish I had that feeling before I put it all back together) haha

thanks for the help! Headed back to the garage to break more of my back removing those u bolts by hand!
