Steering box reseal question

79 Scout II steering box question:

ordered the 3/4" steering box input reseal kit from you guys and am just now getting around to installing it. I'm pretty sure I ordered the correct size for my '79 because the borgsen joint goes on properly to the output shaft. My problem is that the dust cover, oil seal and snap ring are all smaller than the ones removed from the old unit. The o ring is the proper size. I have attached pictures to show you the difference. Did I order the wrong product? Thanks in advance.

Excellent pictures! That's odd if you say the 3/4" input borgeson joint worked yet not the seal kit. From your pictures I would say you have a 13/16" input and May need to exchange that kit you have for one. Best to call first thing Monday morning and see if we can get you steering in the right direction(no pun intended).

I ran into this same issue when resealing a box last week. I would be interested to know what you come up with. I got lucky and the box I needed was the 13/16 input 1-3/8 od seal, but I was puzzled to find a 3/4 input with a 1-3/8 od seal on the box I broke. The really strange part was I rebuilt the 3/4 box last year and it has a 3/4 by 1-3/8 seal in it so I guess I got lucky with whatever kit I bought. I checked a couple of other boxes and all the 3/4" have 1.250 od seals.

The boys at IH only have come through like the class organization they are and have already shipped out a 13/16" seal kit. Seems like there is some cross pollination going on with these steering boxes. Thanks again for the help IH only.
