Steering box Rebuild question

For those that have rebuilt power steering boxes; have you had trouble getting the power piston with the teflon ring over the rubber o-ring back into the housing?

I had the power piston in the freezer and heated the housing up with a small torch and the stupid thing still wouldn’t fit.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Edit: for those who search and find this thread later and are looking for how to rebuild the box, here is a write-up on a similar saginaw style box. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?referrerid=57133&t=570869

Ok, I figured it out. I used a few really thin shims from a feeler gauge set and put them in before the piston, gave it a good tap and it slid in.

Now let’s just hope it doesn’t leak!

I think you'll get it sealed - the most important thing is that it works!!

I'll be finding out here shortly. Have to get the hydro assist mounted and not binding and the hydro boost bleed and working.
