Starting issues and very rough idle when cold

Good day, all:

the attached plugs are from my 77 SII. it has a 345 (installed this time last year) with about 5000 miles on it. I have changed the oil 3 times since install just to make sure the 345 is nice and clean. Yes, I've added a qt. of zddp with each change. IT has a holey 2210, pertronix, and headers. T-19 4speed with D20 TC. D44's with 3.54 gears. That's about it. This is my issue:

I had the 2210 rebuilt about January this year after having troubles with it after installing the 345 last year. For the first few months this year, the Scout started up just fine. One pump of the gas pedal, it would start, ran smooth and it was a nice running truck. It gets about 12-14 mpg. However, over time the Scout is getting harder to start after sitting for a few days. I mean really hard to start. It will start after about 5-6 minutes of intermittent cranking and pumping the gas pedal like a mad man. Then it starts like it was really starved for gas, runs real, real rough until it warms up, then it smooths out and runs just fine. I've checked for vacuum leaks ( all lines are new), there is no oil leak, no oil in antifreeze, and no antifreeze in the oil.

My question is: it is possible that the 2210 is leaking/draining? what are the symptoms, and how would I determine this?

I'd start by looking at your fuel pump. Put a hose in a jar and crank it for a bit while cold and see how much fuel you get and if you're getting a lot of air with it. Modern fuel will evaporate out of a carb fairly quickly and if the fuel pump is weak it may not be refilling the bowl. If you're seeing a lot of air in the fuel, their is perhaps an air leak in the suction side of the system somewhere.
