Speedometer RPM

Is the stock 72' Scout II speedometer set at the standard 1000 rpm's a mile like most other mechanical speedo's? I know j**p uses a goofy 940, 970 and 1000 rpm calibration and I'm looking to calculate for a new speedometer gear in a d 300. Thanks.

Do you have the original x-fer and speedometer drive gear? If you know the oem axle ratio you can calcuate it backwards.

Orrrrrrrrrr start counting turns.:ihih:

the info you need May be in a IH service manual.

The original x-fer was a d20 I sold and my Scout came with a 3.73 r&p as per the line ticket, but I now have a j**p d300 with a 26 tooth speedo gear and a 3.54 ratio. Another reputable vendor said to be dead on I needed to know if the speedometer was 1000 rpm per mile or if it was like the thing it came out of that has a 940 or 960 rpm per mile speedometer gauge. Since IH used a lot used a lot of off the shelf parts from chrysler, GM and Ford I wanted to make sure it was 1000 rpm's like all of the normal trucks of the time.
