I got a 1964 Scout 80 4x4, it had no speedo cable in it and I bought a new one. Heres my problem, where the heck does it connect to? I have it hooked to the back of the speedo guage but cant find anything on the motor, tranny, or x-fer case where it srcews on to? What am I missing?
Thanks

If your transfer case is original, then it should be a spicer/Dana 18. It has the "offset" rear output housing/shaft on the passenger side.

The speedo cable mounts to a threaded boss on the rear axle output housing, iirc it is a 7/8" thread.

By mounting the speedo off the transfer case output, the speedo reading is close to correct no matter which range is engaged.

I'm moving this thread to the "basics tech" sub-forum.
