1969 1300d 345a 2wd drw, I installed a rebuild Holley 2 barrel, if fired right up, idled very high then started throwing sparks form exhaust, shortly after the carb started leaking lots of fuel, I switched back to my motocraft 2 barrel and now once the engine is warm it dies at stop lights, how do I diagnose what’s going on

Sounds like you've got 2 carbs that need a rebuild. They are both good carbs, but if the Holley is the stock one it might be tuned for the 345 better. Look for a video on setting the Holley float level and that may be all you need.

Thank you very much FDChappie I will watch the videos and try different adjustments and report back as soon as I can,

I haven’t checked the exhaust for rats nest and have not had any unusual noises, burning of oil, no smoke from exhaust popping or ticking, it cold start just fine and idles great, it only happened while the holley 2bbl was installed, shortly after I installed the motocraft carb and sounded normal again,

I’m ges swing this is why it leaked so much from bottom of carb, I replaced with new gasket I will report again later today after I test out carb with new gasket
