SOA RIDE

Well I did an SOA 8lug conversion and this is what I ended up with.

Still working out the kinks but I was hoping for a little better ride. I got a set of bilsteins and I think it rides alittle stiff. I know alot of scouts coming from IHOnly north use billys. Or if its how I set up the springs. I doubled up on the main leafs on the back and used a rear leaf on the front per this thread. --->

leaf spring upgrade/rebuild - part 1 - binder planet forums

So my question is what would you do?. Get rancho 9000s or take out the extra leaves and keep the billys? My thought for using the extra leaves were to resist breaking the main leaf on the trail and since they are long they cant be that stiff. I think the stiffness is from the gas charge bilsteins. Its a straight up wrestling match getting them fu$!ers on.!!! They push pretty hard.

Before I put the shocks on you could push down on the front end for a nice amount of "give" the rear May be ok with bilsteins because I mounted them at such an angle or close to the stock angle. But the front are so verticle they really stiffen up the front end

My SOA scouts have all road much better than lift spring scouts. I think you May have too many leaves in your springs - with stock spring packs I've had great luck. And never broke a spring - bent a few but never broke.

I'd try the springs first. If you need lift add the shortest spring possible to the pack so it doesn't effect the spring rate.

If you give up on the bilsteins I'll take 'em :d

I love your Scout, nice looking. did you just set the springs on the stock Chevy axle pads in the front? I was told that it will work out fine to do it that way, as theyre so close. Also, did you extend the bump stops in the rear to keep the tires out of the quarters?
