Slivovitz making a batch

Ok I know nothing about the process. I do know its some very good stuff. On our last run, rob's brother in law had a bottle of it.

At this point the neighbors tree has so many plums a huge branch broke off and it's in my back yard. I collect a lot of plums.

I put them in homer buckets with a lid.

Found this link
how plums are fermented to make slivovice

Still need to make a still.

I read the whole linked web site -- facinating! You learn something new here everyday.

I know nothing about slivovitz - but did learn recently the difference between plums and prunes. They look the same on the tree to me. Prunes will dry without rotting while plums will rot. That's why we eat dried prunes and not dried plums. :d maybe it is how they can be made into alcohol in this process and not end up with a 55 gallon drum of rotten/stinky fruit.
