Sliding Windows installation

Anyone out there ever replaced the windows on the sides with the sliding windows? Is it very difficult. I called a windows shop and they quoted me $280 and that's just installation. I already have the sliding windows. Can anyone out there help me out here. Thanks

Same install process as regular glass. Put the rubber on the window, install soapy rope in grove soap up the channel, start at the bottom and pull both ends of the rope at once. Working slowly around the rubber. Dont bang on the glass with your fist or hit the metal trim. Use the palm of your hand and lightly slap.

Thanks for the info. I'm having problems getting the regular window out to put the sliding ones in. Just worried I'm going to shatter it. By the way, I know we've never commented before but I'm looking for a roll bar for a 74. Know anyone selling one? Thanks again for the previous post.

For removing the old flat glass, go around the inside and outside of the seal with a hook tool or similar object. This will help to break the seal from years of gunk and yuck. Soap up the outside and inside while using the tool to help hold the rubber out. Then with a hook tool or nylon window stick start at the top of the small corner and start working the rubber lip to the outside. It will be a pain at first butbe patient and work slowly. After you get the top go back to the corners and start working them. You will realize when the window is getting loose and after that it will come right out!
