Sierra Scouts IRS status

As the prior treasurer of Sierra Scouts I was sent a letter today from the irs. The letter states that the tax exempt status of the Sierra Scouts club has been revoked as there had been no filing in three years.
If anyone has plans to resurrect the club they May be interested in this.
Thanks,

I thought we went thru the proper channels to disband the club back then. So if we/I decide to bring back Sierra Scouts now it will still have its non-profit status? I own the domain name so it wouldn't be any harder to bring the club back to life as it would reviving one of these old IH's.

Jeff, you can have the documents, I still have all the paperwork the club did for the npo and the banks. You will need to re-file fo rnpo, make sure and keep it straight from the ihon business. I'd gladly clean a space in my office and give you all the books, papers and the newsletter! I found all the files cleaning the garage, found old newsletters and old mailing lists too. I have two boxes of ss stuff if you want to revive it. I still have the original artwork from don for t-shirts too. Serious flashback. O yeah... F*&k the irs too.

Proper channels were followed when we disbanded and reinstatement of tax exempt status is reasonably straight forward. Should anyone wish to do so, let me know and I can get what info I have to you.
I should dp it my self as I'm certainly non-profit!!

Well what do you think guys, should we get the band back together? I will need others help on this as a one man band will go down just like the last time we tried this.

forget the “jumping through hoops” side of things. Keep it simple. Enjoy it for what it’s worth, for as long as it lasts. No responsibilities – no politics – no real leadership; just a collective path. Our particular modus operandi seems to work for us – we do better with less. I think the guys that have been around since day one would agree. We are as organized as we need to be.

Key word - simple

your shop already has a “malt shop” quality to it. I remember when we got the silicon valley started; sean’s shop became a cool hangout. Just by proximity, ss is already a success... Again.

Hummm. Could the 1 year anniversary party be the first stop on the Sierra Scouts revival tour?

For the last 3 years, this has worked for us...........

Carey is right about keeping it simple, however if there is interest from others to wake the dead I would offer my help. Good old bassi days

Like I said guys I'd love to see the club come back and I'll be glad to host the club meetings either here at the shop or a nearby convenient location. But again I will need help on this and cannot do this alone. So who is willing to help??
