First off I am okay and the beast is drivable just a broken side view mirror.

As I was driving along heading down to san mateo for the truck event I pulled a blonde moment and ran out of gas on the enterchange between 80 and 880 freeways. As I was on the phone with aaa road side service giving out details to get gas service all of a sudden this big rig comes along and tries to pull off my side mirror off the door. To my suprise - there was no damage except for the broken mirror. Happened while I was on the phone with aaa, so the called chp for me too.

Luckily the truck driver stoped and walked back to where I stoped. As we started talking and getting ready to exchange info the chp arrived for furthur assistance. Since no major damge other than a broken mirror, no police report was taken

the truck driver is more than willing to pay for a new mirror out of his own pocket. He asked how much they go for, and I mentioned around a 100 bucks. He didn't have it on him at the time, but we plan on getting together tomorrow(on Sunday) so he could give me 125.

And I realized when I got home that I have a spare one in great shape, here in my man cave hanging on the wall:cornut:

not a good shot, being on the freeway and all, but this is all that happened to the beast, and, yes, that is the rig parked in front of me, that side swiped my mirror :incazzato:

Yea. Gues it did sorta blend in. But where it happened I figured it be very hard to miss.

Had little wiring issue. Last weekend I had to replace that red speaker wire on negative battery terminal that was used as a groynding wire. Then had to fix the wires at the starter. About 2" of sheathing on one wire was non existan and shorting out. A complete rewire will be done very soon. I will post more on build thread soon enough.

Btw - I just met with the guy who side swiped me. He gave me $125 in cash for the mirror:icon_up:
 
Ya know, 6-12 inches more to the right and it would have been a different story. Your post May not have started out as, “first off, I’m ok”.

What was the tanker hauling?

Yea yea - due to sitting so high I couldn't tell exactly how close I was getting to the side rail before it drops off two stories down below. And I had made that "first off" comment from recent experience of the barrel roll in hollister. Although, my heart jumped out almost through my throat when it happened. I be too damn young for them heart attacks - lol

he was hauling deliveries to the ebmud waste water treatment center in oakland. Near downtown, basically under macarthur maze. The area where ya need a gas mask sometimes - ewwwwww

btw - this morning I met up with the guy and he gave me $125 cash for the damaged mirror, to get a replacement. Entersting enough is that I have spares here in da cave hanging on the wall

that sucks. Where you in motion? Or stoped?
Mine happened as I was parked with flashers on and foot on brake pedad

then a week later some idiot tried to do the same as what happened to you, all while doing 70 on the 880. The knuckle head almost stuck his passenger door into center of my right front tire
